The Formula Enterprises Car
The Enterprises Formula car with its raised nose, side pods and multi-plane wings has a Formula One look. The pushrod suspension, sequential gear box and wide wheels give it a Champ Car feel. It is a one design, fixed specification car with minimal adjustments, sealed engines, set horsepower, and equal traction. This puts the competitive emphasis on driver skill and mechanical preparation - and not on absolute wallet size.
Drive Train
2.3 Liter sealed Mazda engine, alloy head and block, twin cam, 16 valve, electronic fuel injection by MBE, Elite 5-speed sequential gearbox. Peak horsepower = 190 @ 5800, Torque = 170 ft/lbs @ 4700, 0-60 ~3.5 seconds, 0-100 ~7 seconds.
Suspension
Advanced push rod activated suspension system operating on wide based oval section wishbones with the latest anti-intrusion bar requirements. Alloy casting, heat treated uprights with large diameter angular contact bearings, front anti-sway bars fully adjustable, 4 shock system Ð sealed rebound adjustable Penske. Car achieves ~2.5g cornering.
Chassis, Bodywork and Aerodynamics
Multi tubular steel spaceframe extensively braced. Formula 1 design features of a high nose, deep side pods and an engine cover with an air intake encompassing the roll hoop. Wheel base: 102.5, Front track: 58.5, Rear track: 55, Weight: 1,040 lbs. Front wing: Full width, adjustable; Rear wing: Two upper elements, lower element mounted on gearbox.
Wheels, Tires and Brakes
Front Wheel: 8 x 13 by OZ, Rear Wheel: 10 x 13 by OZ. Hoosier R45 compound racing slicks: Front - 21.5" x 7.5" x 13.0 in, Rear - 22.0 in x 10.0 in x 13.0 in. Brakes: lightweight 4 piston calipers, 10-1/2" diameter discs all around, cockpit adjustable bias.
